Get a taste of ranch living – 1-bedroom cabin sits on the Boulder Creek Ranch, 45 miles northeast of John Day in the Malheur National Forest. Relax in the cabin, hike along Big Boulder Creek or area trails, and meet our friendly horses and donkeys. Your cabin is so well-equipped all you need to bring is food — and we provide the makings for breakfast! If you want something different, try sleeping in a real covered wagon – a genuine sheepherder’s wagon provides a night’s rest you won’t soon forget. If you’re up to it, you can even help with chores – fixing fence, planting pines, and feeding the horses, goats, chickens, cattle and dogs that call Boulder Creek Ranch home.
Guests can just relax on the 160 acres of the ranch, or use it as a base camp for exploring the region – the Sumpter area with its steam train and gold dredge, the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness and the world-renowned John Day Fossil Beds.
