Bates

Bates Oregon

Bates was a lumber mill town up until the 1970s. Few houses remain and the only markers that indicate Bates’ existence are its ZIP Code, the people who grew up there, and Bates State Park. The Park is on Route 7, between Austin Junction off of Highway 26 and the old mining town of Sumpter. It offers limited electrical hookups but plenty of dry site accomodations and potable water.
